Mike Fisher Announces Candidacy for Kentucky State Representative in the 70th District
Mike Fisher, a seasoned engineer, businessman, and community leader, has officially announced his candidacy for Kentucky State Representative in the 70th District. With over three decades of experience in business, manufacturing, and civic engagement, Fisher is running on a platform of fiscal responsibility, constitutional integrity, and community-driven leadership.
Fisher currently manages logistics at 3M Corporation in Cynthiana, where he has worked for 28 years in engineering and supply chain leadership roles. His work has led to millions in cost savings across local and global operations. Prior to joining 3M, Fisher owned and operated a small business for eight years, employing more than 40 people.
“I’ve spent my career solving problems, leading teams, and making systems more efficient,” said Fisher. “Now, I want to bring that same approach to Frankfort—evaluating legislation for its real-world impact and ensuring our tax dollars are spent wisely.”
Fisher holds dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering Technology, with a minor in Industrial Engineering. His technical background, combined with his leadership in the private sector, gives him a unique perspective on the challenges facing Kentucky families and businesses.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Fisher has been deeply involved in community service. He is a 25-year member of the Cynthiana Rotary Club, where he served as president for three years and held multiple leadership roles. He has also served on the boards of the Cynthiana Rotary Foundation and the Cynthiana Clothing Closet, and has led 3M’s Community Affairs Team in supporting local initiatives.
Fisher has been a strong advocate for education, serving on both middle and high school site-based councils for five years each. He has worked closely with local schools to support STEM programs and basic needs projects, acting as a mentor and liaison between the school district and 3M.
His commitment to veterans and senior citizens was shaped by personal experience caring for his father-in-law and volunteering on an Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. “Our veterans and seniors deserve better access to medical care, financial support, and respect,” said Fisher. “I will fight to ensure they are not forgotten.”
Fisher also served as Chairman of the Harrison County GOP for 13 years, leading the party from a 3:1 minority to a Republican majority in the county.
“I believe in empowering communities, not regulating them out of existence,” Fisher added. “Our government should support the work of local nonprofits and volunteers who fill the gaps where government falls short.”
Mike Fisher lives in Cynthiana with his wife of 37 years. They have two daughters and six grandchildren.
